2 TECHNICAL OFFICER (BUILDING) CADRE | Assistant Technical Officer 06 ND Performing the following duties under supervision:- Carrying out site levelling. Preparing schedule of materials. 3 TECHNICAL OFFICER (CIVIL) CADRE | Assistant Technical Officer 06 ND Performing under supervision of a Senior Officer, any or all of the following duties:- Tracing prepared drawings and adding titles and notes by stencil or hand writing. Carrying out simple surveys and measurements. Preparing building and small survey plans. Preparing simple drawings from sketches. Candidate must possess any of the following qualifications:- General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) in two subjects passed at one sitting or three subjects at two sittings,preferably including Mathematics and Physics. 5 TECHNICAL OFFICER (SURVEY) CADRE | Assistant Technical Officer 06 ND Performing the following duties under supervision:- Carrying out levelling, property surveys, tertiary traverse and survey computations. Checking and Charting Surveys. By direct appointment of a candidate possessing any of the following qualifications:- Ordinary National Diploma in survey or other related subject from a recognised Institution.. 6 BUILDING OFFICER CADRE | Building Officer Grade II 08 BSc. B.Tech Undergoing a two-year pupilage programme and performing the following duties under supervision:- Preparing construction programmes. Participating in the execution of all maintenance works. Supervising and monitoring Government projects. By direct appointment of a candidate possessing any of the following qualifications or their equivalents which are provisionally registerable with the Council or Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON):- A degree in Building or Building Technology from a recognised University. 7 CIVIL ENGINEER CADRE | Civil Engineer, Grade II 08 BSc. B.Tech • Carry out preliminary surveys and investigation on all types of Civil Engineering activities. • Prepare engineering designs in steel, reinforced, and pre-stressed concrete. • Carrying out tests on highway materials. • Prepare cost estimates and tender documents for projects to be executed. • Assisting in the maintenance of Federal and State highways. 8 CIVIL ENGINEER CADRE | Civil Engineer, Grade I 09 BSc. B.Tech Taking charge of a project or projects in a specified area. Supervising a number of junior officers engaged in design or construction works. Inspecting projects under constructions. Carrying out traffic studies and analysis and providing statistics. Candidate must possess a degree in Civil Engineering or such other qualifications registerable with the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN) and at least two years' post-qualification cognate experience. Higher National Diploma in Town Planning from a recognised Institution. 2. National Diploma in Town Planning from a recognised institution, or A pass in the preliminary examination of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners plus at least four years'post-qualification cognate experience. 3. 13 TECHNICAL OFFICER (BUILDING) CADRE | Higher Technical Officer 08 HND Undergoing a two-year pupilage programme and performing the following duties under supervision:- Preparing construction programmes. Participating in the execution of all maintenance works. Undertaking construction of all Government buildings. Supervising and monitoring Government projects. By promotion of a confirmed and suitable Technical Officer who has spent at least three years on the grade. A candidate must possessed the Higher National Diploma in Building from a recognised Institution. 14 TECHNICAL OFFICER (CIVIL) CADRE | Higher Technical Officer 08 BSc. B.Tech Setting out buildings, roads, etc. Preparing schedule of materials to be used for construction works. Taking charge of a project. Assisting in supervising the duties of a number of junior staff. An officer in the Technical Assistant (Civil) Cadre who acquires any of the qualifications specified for appointment to any higher grade is eligible for transfer or promotion to the grade. MOW&T
15 TECHNICAL OFFICER (ELECTRICAL) CADRE | Higher Technical Officer 08 BSc. B.Tech Undergoing a two-year pupilage programme and performing the following duties under supervision:- Carrying out preliminary studies and investigations on all aspects of Electrical Engineering activities. Ensuring compliance of installation with existing regulations. Preparing engineering designs. Maintaining annual record of technical specifications, consumption and generator returns. Supervising work being done either by contract or direct labour. Maintaining and operating machinery and plants in the workshops and on sites. Inspecting and certifying electrical works plants and line installation. 16 TECHNICAL OFFICER (SURVEY) CADRE | Higher Technical Officer 08 HND Checking and charting large acquisitions and layout surveys. Carrying out computation of control traverse. Preparing survey plans and boundary descriptions. By promotion of a confirmed and suitable Technical Officer who has spent at least three years on the grade. By direct appointment of a candidate possessing the Higher National Diploma in Surveying from a recognised Institution. A a candidate must possessed any of the qualifications specified in sub-paragraph above, plus at least four years' or in sub-paragraph above, plus at least three years' post-qualification cognate experience. 17 MECHANICAL ENGINEER CADRE | Mechanical Engineer Grade II 08 BSc. B.Tech Undergoing a two-year pupilage programme and performing the following duties under supervision:- Carrying out preliminary studies and investigations on all aspects of mechanical Engineering activities. Preparing mechanical engineering designs. Preparing costs estimates and Tender documents in respect of project to be carried out (either by contract or direct labour). Supervising work being carried out either by contract or direct labour. Maintaining and operating machinery and plants in the workshops and on sites. 18 QUANTITY SURVEYOR CADRE | Quantity Surveyor Grade II 08 BSc. B.Tech Undergoing a two-year pupilage programme and performing the following duties under supervision:- 1. Preparing estimates, bills of quantity and schedule of materials for construction of buildings. 2. Measuring sites and locations. 3. Undertaking general contract administration. 4. Carrying out valuation for interim certificates and settlement of accounts. By direct appointment of a candidate possessing any of the following qualifications or their equivalent registerable with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS):- 1. A degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognised University. 2. A pass in the final examination of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. 3. 19 QUANTITY SURVEYOR CADRE | Quantity Surveyor Grade I 09 BSc. B.Tech • Carry out preliminary studies and investigation on various forms of structural engineering activities. • Prepare structural engineering designs of steel, concrete and pre-stressed concrete. • Maintain and operate machinery and plants in the workshop and on sites. • Prepare structural designs of projects and cost estimates and tender documents in respect of projects to be carried out. • Supervise projects. • Assist in the supervision and training of junior officers on the job. • Supervise works being carried out by contract or direct labour. • Assist in preparing codes and standard practice. Candidate must possess any of the following qualifications or their equivalent registerable with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), plus at least two years' post-qualification cognate experience. • A degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognised University. • A pass in the finaI examination of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. • A pass in the final examination of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyor. 20 TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (CIVIL) CADRE | Technical Assistant Grade II 03 SSCE Performing the following duties under supervision:- Carrying out standard surveying. 22 TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (CIVIL) CADRE | Technical Assistant Grade I 04 SSCE This is a training grade in which an officer undergoes organized on-the-job training within the Department. By direct appointment of a candidate possessing any of the following qualifications:- 1. West African School Certificate or Senior Secondary School Certificate, preferably including Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry. 2. General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) in four subjects obtained in one sitting or five subjects at two sittings, preferably including Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry. 3.
